Dog Grooming
Here at groom dog, we welcome people to browse at their leisure through out our web site to help find their nearest dog groomer service.
When introducing any dog in to a family it is always important to be aware of their grooming needs as well as what they need to stay healthy. The amount of care and attention a dog will need in its grooming depends entirely on the breed of a dog.
For example some breeds will need daily brushing and general grooming and others may requite no more than once a year or less. Dogs that would benefit greatly from daily brushing are breeds such as Golden Retrievers,
New Found lands and Old English Sheepdogs.
Dogs which do not moult are otherwise known as Non-Shedding dogs. They will how ever require regular grooming along with a professional groom as much as every 6 weeks. Non-Shedding breeds will also need to have their ears plucked to prevent infection or knots. This will be done each time they are taken to be clipped by their dog groomer. Examples of non-shedding dogs are Bichon Frise, Shih Tzu, Maltese and Yorkshire Terrier.
Schnauzer, Pinscher and Brussels Griffon have a wiry coat which will require them to be hand stripped, usually around twice a year. If they are taken to a professional groomer they will happily do this for you. Many breeders will be more than happy to show how stripping should be done and will explain that this process can be very time consuming.

Short, smooth coated breeds such as Labradors are much easier to groom and more often than not all you require is a grooming mitt which are readily available at most pet stores. They like all breeds still need to have their nails clipped to prevent them from over growing and again your nearest dog groomer will be more than happy to do this for you.
It is always a good idea to get any dog used to be groomed from a very early age. This will cause less stress for both owner and dog in the future and will help caring for your dog all the more easier.
