Dog Grooming Services in Sowerby, Thirsk
We offer a professional dog grooming service that will cater for the individual needs of any dog- promoting your pet’s health, happiness and physical appearance.
Hello, my name is Jane and I am the very proud owner of Bark ‘n’ Bubbles.
I am City & Guilds fully Qualified Professional Dog Groomer and Canine First Aid Trained.
I am based at my home address in Sowerby Gateway, Thirsk. All I can say is that I LOVE dogs, they give you the best cuddles, the warmest welcomes, simple company and cute faces to look at… what more could you want?
I have been brought up with dogs from a very young age, ranging from small cute dogs to large working dogs. Size does not matter; they are all beautiful to me!!
I am very particular with my work; all dogs need to be leaving my salon looking the best they ever have. This is extremely important to me, being the owner of a very adorable Cockerpoo, Nancy, I understand that any dog left with me is someone else’s baby and they should be treated with love and great care just like they would receive at home.
All Grooming Services
Grooming is very important for all breeds of dogs; this includes regular trips to the salon along with good grooming at home. At Barks ‘n’ Bubbles we provide the following services for your dogs :
On your first visit to the salon, we will discuss with you any medical or skin conditions which your dog may have, this is recorded accurately and referred to on future grooms. We will ask for any updates on each visit. This allows us, when grooming a dog, to notice any other issues occurring such as skin conditions, lumps, flakes, ticks, fleas, mites etc.
Brushing and De-matting
Matting occurs when regular grooming does not take place. Matts are very uncomfortable for your dog especially when they are close to the skin. These occur on mainly long haired breeds; we will discuss the most manageable hair length with you to ensure the coat is kept matt free.
Your dog should be bathed regularly to ensure all dirt and debris is removed from the skin and coat. This will make them feel better and smell beautiful!
Clipping & Scissoring
Clipping and Scissoring can be done to all different lengths and styles depending on the breed. The most important thing to know is what your breed requires. We will provide any advice needed for different coat types.
Some dogs require the handstripping technique which involves dead hair being pulled from the coat. This is a longer process and is done by hand, with a stripping knife or stone. Many Wire coated breeds require this to be done.
Nail clipping is an essential part of the grooming process. Overgrown nails can break or split easily and can cause problems to your dog’s walking abilities. If left too long they can also become difficult to clip. On serious cases, nails have been known to twist and grow into the dog’s pads causing them a great deal of unneeded pain.
All dogs require their ears to be cleaned to stop a build-up of ear wax and dirt.
The Animal Welfare Act 2006 created the “The 5 Animal Freedoms” which we, at Barks ‘n’ Bubbles abide by 100%:
Freedom from Hunger & Thirst
Freedom from Discomfort
Freedom from Pain, Injury & Disease
Freedom to Behave Normally
Freedom from Fear & Distress
